Ringtones are a complicated thing because of all the damn operating systems on various makes of phones. I use the website www.mobile17.com to create ringtones. At this site, you basically tell it what your phone number is and what kind of phone you have. Then you point to an Mp3 or wav file and tell it what part of the file you want to be the ringtone. mobile17 then creates that ringtone in the proper format for your phone and sends it to you as a text message attachment. It's really cool actually. You basically just save the attached file to your phone and it's now a selectable ringtone in your list. This is really the easiest way considering how hard companies like Verizon make it for you to do such a thing. They really want you to buy a ringtone which is why its complicated. Mobile17 is actually a free service. The only catch is that it can take up to an hour to recieve your ringtone. Optionally, you can purchase credits and use them to get your ringtone immediately.
